Tim Tebow is used to drawing capacity crowds, and it will be no different Sunday when he delivers an Easter sermon.
As many as 30,000 people are expected to be at Tebow's sermon at the Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas.
A local television station reported that the church is erecting bleachers on the 60-acre property to accommodate the crowd.
“Obviously it’s our Super Bowl,” said Joe Champion, pastor at the Celebration Church. “Easter is the resurrection of Christ, which we celebrate in our faith. We feel like it’s going to be a testimony to the community. We want it to be a family event.”
Tebow made some off-the-field news last month when he was traded to the New York Jets from the Denver Broncos.
The Jets have been adamant that Tebow was brought in to be a backup, and Champion said the former Heisman Trophy winner will also serve in that role Sunday.
“There will be the sacredness of Easter,” Champion said. “It’s not a Tim Tebow show. It’s not about a celebrity. There’s really only one celebrity that we are going to honor and highlight.”
