Man who struck, killed elderly man walking dogs charged with DWI

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a man who struck and killed an elderly man on New Year's Eve.

Eduardo Davila, 22, is charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with an invalid license.

According to Houston police, a 74-year-old man was attempting to cross the 10100 block of Kempwood around 8:20 p.m.  He was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a gold Honda Accord, driven by Davila, traveling eastbound on the street. 

The victim was walking two dogs at the time.  He and one dog died at the scene.

Davila was determined to be impaired and subsequently charged.
