Man shot in head in southeast Houston

HOUSTON -

Police are looking for the gunman after a Houston man was shot in the head.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday near a shopping center in the 10600 block of Edgar in southeast Houston.

Police said three men in their late teens or early 20s got into a car for a "narcotics transaction."

Officials said at one point, one of the men pulled out a gun and a struggle began. Then, 23-year-old Samuel Thompson was shot.

The gunman ran away.

Police said the driver of the vehicle drove to a vacant lot on Scott Street and called 911.

Thompson was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police ask that anyone with information about this shooting to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
