Funnel cloud spotted in Texas City; Tornado Warning expires for Galveston County

A funnel cloud was spotted Monday afternoon in the Texas City area, prompting a brief Tornado Warning for Galveston County.

The National Weather Service allowed the Tornado Warning for Galveston County to expire at 1:15 p.m.

At 12:42 p.m., the NWS says emergency management reported a tornado near Texas City. Doppler radar showed this tornado moving east at 5 mph.

The NWS says public reports of a funnel cloud in Texas City were called in at around 12:45 p.m.

The Texas City Office of Emergency Management says the tornado only came about halfway down, and never touched down. Officials say it then moved offshore.

There are no reports of damage yet.
