Randy McIlvoy reports that the Houston Texans are changing up their workouts Wednesday morning in order to attend the memorial service for the four fallen Houston firefighters

Many Houston Texans players plan on attending Wednesday's memorial for the four fallen Houston firefighters.

They may take the field on Sundays, but the players consider our firefighters the real heroes in town.

This developed over the past 24 hours. The Texans are in the middle of off-season workouts, but the organization as a whole will offer their support to the firefighters and their families on Wednesday .

This time of the year, the focus for the Texans is back on football as their off-season program winds down. But last Friday's tragedy that claimed the lives of four Houston firefighters is close to their hearts.

"It doesn't get talked about often, until something negative happens like this and that's unfortunate,"  said center Chris Myers. "For us as a team to be able to be here tomorrow is gonna be great, and I think we owe it to them."

"As players and members of this community first and foremost in the Houston area, for us to show our support and rally around each other as a group, as a collective group in Houston, really says a lot about who we are as an organization and what the city's about," quarterback Matt Schaub said.

The Texans announced that they'll move up Wednesday's workout to 8 a.m. to give them time to join thousands of Houstonians at the memorial service inside of Reliant Stadium.

Honoring the fallen heroes and those injured, along with the role firefighters play day in and day out, was an easy decision for the Texans organization.

"That could've been anyone's family member, so you always want to be able to show support," said safety Danieal Manning.

Several Texans have family members that serve as firefighters across the country.
