HOUSTON -

A student at Yeager Elementary School in Northwest Harris County has been disciplined after bringing a BB gun and two pocket knives to school on September 5.

Parents told Local 2 they were notified by email from the school's principal about six hours after school let out that day.

"I think it came through around 10 o'clock that night and school lets out at 4 p.m." said Libby Bennett, who has two children at Yeager -- a first and fifth grader.

In the email Bennett said she received from the school about the incident, the principal said it was brought to a teacher's attention that a student had a BB gun and two pocket knives in his possession.

An administrator confiscated the items and started an investigation. A Cy-Fair ISD spokesperson told Local 2 the student didn't intend to harm anyone with the weapons and has been disciplined according to the code of conduct.  She would not get into specifics about what that discipline entailed.

"That's scary," Bennett said.  "I don't want my children around a BB gun. "Those things can be lethal. If not lethal, exceptionally dangerous."

"My kindergartner brings a prepaid phone in her book bag," said Kisha Thomas, who has a kindergartner at Yeager. "I tell her to call 911 if she feels scared or for an emergency. I recite this to her every morning, that's how concerned I am."
