Reward offered for ‘Texas Most Wanted’ sex offender

State authorities are asking for help as they look for a man on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Doug Otis Sims, 32.
Officials said Sims has a violent criminal past and is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration and burglary of habitation.
DPS said Sims has relatives and friends living in Center, Athens and Burnet, Texas; and he has been known to work in the oil drilling industry.
According to DPS, Sims’ criminal history includes sexual assault of a child, assault, evading arrest/detention and DWI. In 2003, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl nine times over a period of several months.
Sims is described 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has cut scars on his back and chest and multiple tattoos, including “Andrew Samuel” on his lower left leg and tribal art on his right hand, left arm and left leg.

DPS officials said Sims is considered armed and dangerous; and if you see him, do not try to apprehend him. Instead, leave an anonymous tip with DPS by one of four ways:
- Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
- Text the letters DPS – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
- Submit a web tip through the DPS website.
- Submit a Facebook tip: Click the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
