Police take the driver of a pick up truck into custody after he sends them on a chase.

Houston -

Houston police officers were sent on a chase this morning after one officer tried to pull a pickup truck over in southeast Houston.

Police say the pickup was spotted speeding along Mykawa Road near the South Loop around 4 a.m. When the driver refused to pull over, police chased him northbound on Mykawa Road.

The chase slowed down after the driver lost control and went over a curb near the South Loop.

Police say the driver lost a portion of the bottom part of his pickup truck after crashing into the curb. The driver continued driving but the truck did not get far and had to stop after two miles.

Once the truck was stopped, police say they took the driver into custody. They are now investigating to see if the vehicle was stolen.
