East coast storm causes delays, cancellations at Houston airports

HOUSTON – Snow is causing a travel nightmare for the rest of the country as thousands of flights have been canceled or delayed because of the weather.

At Hobby Airport, the 6:35 p.m. Southwest Airlines flight to Boston has been canceled. Flights into LaGuardia Airport in New York City from Hobby have been canceled.

People at Bush Intercontinental Airport are dealing with the same issues.

"My flight into JFK was canceled, so now I'm going to Fort Myers, Florida," said one traveler.

"Just tried to check in, and my flight from New York to Bombay was canceled, so I've got to cancel my business trip," another traveler told us.

"I need to figure out if we can get to New York, because we are flying out of New York Thursday. So we have to figure out if we will leave from Houston this week or, you know, go to New York," said another traveler.

At IAH, there are 36 canceled flights and 22 delays. The weather is expected to get worse, so these numbers could increase.

It really is best to check with the airline or check before you head out in case you have travel plans, even if you are not flying to the east coast.
