June 20, 2013: NASA dedicates a tree to former astronaut, Neil Armstrong.

A tree dedication to former astronaut Neil Armstrong  took place Thursday at Johnson Space Center to honor the former astronaut's legacy.

Along with the tree, a local Boy Scout troop paid their respects by installing a paver stone in the shape of Armstrong's footprint.

Fellow Apollo11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were also on hand at Johnson Space Center to pay tribute.

NASA says they dedicate a tree when an astronaut passes away.

Armstrong made history on July 20, 1969, when he became the first person to walk on the moon as commander of Apollo 11.

Armstrong passed away last year at the age of 82.
