Most of Texas' new abortion restrictions reinstated

A panel of judges issued a ruling Thursday evening reinstating most of Texas' new abortion restrictions.
The panel of judges at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated these restrictions just three days after District Judge Lee Yeakel said one provision serves no medical purpose.
The panel said that while a lawsuit may be moving forward, the law requiring doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital can take effect.
The law was argued by the Texas attorney general's office to be a constitutional use of the Legislature's authority.
It was argued by lawyers for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers that the regulations didn't protect women, and that it would shut down a third of abortion clinics in Texas.
