What is it? West Nile virus is an infection transmitted by mosquitoes, although in very small cases it has been spread through blood transfusions, organ transplants, breastfeeding and during pregnancy from mother to baby.

The Harris County Health Department said a new sample of mosquitoes tested positive for the West Nile virus.

Officials said the sample was confirmed Thursday in the 77520 zip code in the Baytown area.

Health officials said they will begin spraying the area Sunday evening.
