Driver found in backyard after police chase

HOUSTON – Police tracked down and arrested a driver after a routine traffic stop escalated to a police chase.

It started around 4 a.m. Friday, when officers attempted to pull the suspect over near Tidwell Road and Nordling Road for driving with an expired registration.

Instead of complying, the man sped off and eventually bailed out of the car, investigators said.

According to reports, he ran to the 200 block of Soren Lane, where police found him in the backyard of a home after setting up a search perimeter.

The driver told police he started running because he thought there was a warrant out for his arrest.
