It’s a sight you don’t see every day: Houston Mayor Annise Parker showing up for jury duty.
Mayor Parker showed up to the Jury Assembly Room Friday morning to fulfill her civic duty.
The mayor said she was called to serve the City of Houston Municipal Courts because she lives in the city limits. She has also been called for county jury duty.
“"Jury duty is our civic responsibility,” Mayor Parker told Local 2. “If we want to be judged by juries of our peers, we need to participate in the jury process."
We learned Friday afternoon that the mayor was not selected to a jury.
