A wanted criminal with an insatiable appetite for stolen food is wreaking havoc at two chicken shacks in southeast Houston.
"He's most likely selling it to other restaurants, smaller type restaurants," said Houston Police Department Investigative First Responder Cory Sharp.
Since March 5, the unidentified thief has burglarized the Church's Chicken at 8841 Cullen Blvd. three times and the Popeye's Chicken at 9222 Cullen Blvd. twice.
Managers at the restaurants and police believe the burglar is reselling the chicken. The quantities appear to be too large for personal consumption.
Each heist yields between $500 and $1,000 worth of frozen food. On occasion, the thief also takes frozen shrimp and frozen pies.
The man gains entry to the restaurants either through the drive-thru window or by breaking a plate glass window.
In surveillance camera footage, the man is seen slipping and falling on the floor during two of the heists.
The man is described by police as "long and lean, maybe in his 40s."
Anyone with information about the crimes is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
