10-year-old shot in car while at traffic light in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating after a 10-year-old was shot inside a car as his mom waited at a traffic light in northwest Houston.

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the BMW was stopped at the intersection of West Little York at Hollister near North Cypress Medical Center, police said.

The mother told police she "heard a loud pop" and discovered her son Cristian had been shot in the back. She immediately rushed him to North Cypress Medical Center.

Police found a bullet on the floor of the mother's car.

"It's disturbing," said business owner Rajan Sohal. Sohal owns a business at West Little York and Hollister.

"Never thought that something like this would happen here, especially for a 10-year-old kid, just going home from a soccer game," said Sohal.

The boy's father stopped by Sohal's store Thursday morning.

"He came ,and he was asking me for the video and stuff, so I showed it to him," said Sohal.

The boy's father is on a mission to find the person who shot his son.

"He was mad. Of course, he would be mad. Everybody would be mad, but he just wants to catch whoever did this. It's a coward thing to do," he said.

Doctors released Cristian from the hospital and he was resting at home.

Police said if anyone knows who shot the boy, call Crimestoppers at (713) 521-4600.
