A man who was trying to run his wife off the road killed another driver and her 2-year-old son.

The accident occurred just before 11 a.m. Sunday in Baytown.

Deputies said the husband and wife were driving separate vehicles on FM 1942 when the husband attempted to force his wife off the road because of a dispute the two had earlier.

Investigators said as the man was maneuvering his pickup truck, he collided head-on with another vehicle.

A woman in that car was killed. Her preschool-aged son was  taken to the hospital in critical condition, but died Monday night.

Police identified the victims as Tania Vercher and Alejandro "A.J." Vercher, both of Baytown.

Charges against the driver of the truck, Emil McMahon, were  pending following the results of a blood test.

Investigators with the district attorney's office and the Harris County Sheriff's office are working on the case.
