HOUSTON -

The inbound lanes of Interstate 10 reopened around 5 a.m. Thursday morning after Houston police closed the East Freeway to investigate a deadly motorcycle crash.

Houston law enforcement officers closed the lanes in both directions after a motorcycle rider was killed around 2 a.m.

Houston police said the 31-year-old biker was speeding as he headed east on I-10 near Federal when he lost control of the motorcycle and slammed into the retaining wall.

Investigators said the man flipped over the wall, and landed in the road on the other side.

Officers said at least one car ran over the man's body. Police said there are no witnesses and no vehicles stopped to help the man.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Houston police said the motorcycle was stolen out of Harris County.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
