HOUSTON -

The cold temperatures have Houstonians bundling up this weekend, and many are embracing the change in temperatures.

The ice rink at Discovery Green opened to the public Saturday and many families told Local 2 the cold weather added to the holiday experience.

"This time of year, it gets the mood for the season," said Jason Rodriguez of Houston. "You want it to be cold for Thanksgiving. You don't want it to be hot and humid. We have that the entire year. It's a good change."

The rink was originally planned to open Friday but officials said heavy rains forced them to delay their soft opening. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Sunday.
