A mother in League City is facing charges after her young son was found walking on the Gulf Freeway.

League City police said they were called to the 2100 block of the Gulf Freeway southbound around 8:30 p.m. on September 7.

When officers arrived, they found a 10-year-old boy walking alone on the shoulder of the freeway.

Investigators said they learned that the boy had been kicked out of his mother’s car and told to walk home as a form of punishment.

Police tracked down the boy’s mother, 34-year-old Angela Garcia. She was arrested and charged with abandoning and endangering a child.

Garcia’s bond was set at $7,500.

League City police are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to call Detective Grant at 281-338-4173.
