HOUSTON -

An argument over a missing cell phone led to a SWAT stand-off in the Heights Thursday night.

According to police, 29-year-old Alex Soria started arguing with his brother after he came home from work.

"When his brother came home, he found Alex in an agitated state over a missing cell phone," said HPD Spokesman Kese Smith. "He watched Alex tear the house apart, and then Alex choked him. The brother was able to get away after he says Alex went down stairs looking for a gun.”

Police arrived to the home off Silver near Shearn around 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

According to investigators, Soria refused to come outside. Moments later SWAT officers were called out to the scene and used a battering ram to break down the door.

Officers negotiated with Soria to come out of the home for four hours.

Soria eventually surrendered. He was taken to jail and charged with aggravated assault.
