July 16 2013: Firefighters are battling a massive blaze at a north Harris County apartment complex. Camille Williams reports.

Firefighters battled a massive blaze at a north Harris County apartment complex.

At least 16 units in the Timbers of Cranbrook apartment complex on Ella Boulevard near Kuykendahl Road were destroyed.

The Cypress Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The second floor of the building was engulfed in flames and plumes of smoke were billowing out the roof when crews arrived, fire investigators said.

The roof of one building collapsed.

Firefighters said battling the fire was difficult because none of the fire hydrants at the complex worked.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, however, firefighters say they don't believe the fire was weather related.
