Two arrested after fatal shooting in north Houston

HOUSTON – Two men have been charged in the fatal shooting of a man in north Houston.

Juan Gabriel Espinosa, 37, was killed around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Firnat Street.

Jose Rufino Espinoza, 22, has been charged with murder.

Roberto Salazar, 19, has been charged with tampering with evidence and is Espinoza's brother, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD investigators say they arrived at the scene and found a man outside a trailer home with a gunshot wound to his left hand. Juan Espinosa was found inside the home and had been shot multiple times. The man with the hand wound was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated and released, according to investigators.

Futher investigation led HPD to identify Jose Espinoza and Salazar as suspects in this case.

They were arrested by San Jacinto County sheriff's deputies in Shepherd on Saturday. Authorities say they both confessed to their involvement in the shooting.
