Mother, 2 children hospitalized after house fire

CYPRESS, Texas -

A mother and her two children ended up in the hospital after a fire destroyed their home, according to the Cy-Fair Fire Department. 

Firefighters told Local 2 the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at Wisteria Springs Drive and Cedar Canyon Drive in Cypress.

The mother, an eight-year-old and an one-year-old were all asleep in the house at the time.  According to reports, the father was away on a hunting trip.

Firefighters said the mother and her children were taken to the hospital in stable condition to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The Harris County Fire Marshal said the cause of the fire appears to be electrical.

The names of the family members were not immediately released.
