April 25, 2013: Deputies are searching for three men after they attacked a man as he got out of his car, deputies said. Local 2's Mark Boyle has the latest from northwest Houston.

HOUSTON -

Three men are on the run after they attacked a man as he got out of his car, deputies said.

The attack happened around 1 a.m. Thursday at the Camden Court Apartments on Antoine near Veterans Memorial Drive.

Harris County Deputies said the victim got out of his car and was about to walk into his apartment when three armed men attacked him and tried to rob him.

Investigators said the victim's roommate happened to look out the window, saw what was going on and quickly dialed 911.

Investigators said some deputies who were about a block away arrived on the scene so quickly, they saw the attack in progress. Even so, deputies said the crooks managed to give them the slip. Investigators called in K-9 units and a helicopter to search the perimeter, but were unable to track them down.

The victim wasn't hurt during the attack, but deputies said the quick-thinking actions of his roommate, combined with the quick response time of the deputies may have saved his life.

If you know anything about this crime, you're asked to give police a call.
