Fort Bend County deputies said an alert citizen helped capture four aggravated robbery suspects just minutes after the crime.
According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, the four suspects stole an iPhone and a backpack from a 16-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon.
They allegedly drove up to the teen as he walked in the 14700 block of Wynbourn Way Drive near Bissonnet. Deputies said the suspect threatened him with a handgun and robbed him.
Only a few minutes later, a witness contacted the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office concerning a suspicious vehicle on nearby Wynbourn Way Court. The vehicle had four men in it and they had allegedly dumped a backpack onto a lawn.
The witness got the license plate number and gave it to a deputy. The deputy looked up the owner's address and was on his way to that location when he spotted the suspected vehicle near the intersection of West Bellfort and Highway 6.
When a second deputy arrived, together they approached the vehicle.
According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, the deputies spotted a handgun magazine in the rear seat of the car. Deputies said they also found a loaded 9mm pistol underneath the front seat and a loaded shotgun in the vehicle's trunk.
The stolen items were recovered.
Deputies arrested Dedarius Smith, 20; Ditalian Kelley, 19; Chidurum Onwuegbu, 20; and Keith Menifee, 21. All are from Houston. They face several charges, including aggravated robbery.
