Man hospitalized after road-rage shooting in north Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after being shot during a road rage incident in north Harris County.

It happened on the North Freeway near Airtex Boulevard shortly after 9 a.m. The 46-year-old victim was driving a company van for Gamez Construction, when he apparently accidentally cut off another driver.

According to investigators, the driver then started firing shots at the van while both were moving.

"He was shot in the arm," said Jose Gamez about his employee. "There were about four shots in the van, so he's lucky to be alive."

The employee was able to pull off Interstate 45 into a gas station along Airtex, where he called for help. He was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition.

"You're not safe anywhere," Gamez said. "It's really sad."

Investigators are searching for a gold Lincoln Navigator that is six to eight years old. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
