Computer outage grounded flights nationwide

A computer problem brought travel to a halt for major airlines early Tuesday.
A technology company that provides software for the booking system went down, which meant customers and customer service agents could not access reservations.
A JetBlue media representative told Local 2 overnight the outage was “affecting airports nationwide,” and that the airline is now experiencing flight delays as a result.
As of 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, several major airlines reported the systems were back up and running.
American Airlines released the following statement:
“American Airlines is currently experiencing an outage involving its reservations system. It’s our understanding that other airlines and travel agencies are also impacted by this. We are working with our technology partners to determine a solution. The outage began around 10:45 p.m. CDT.”
Officials said the outage lasted about two and a half hours.
