HOUSTON -

Friends and family of the victim of a deadly hit-and-run accident gathered together Saturday to raise funds for the victim's family.

Nhan "Casper" Pham was killed almost two weeks ago to the day, on February 9th, while walking across Bellaire Boulevard in a dangerous construction area near Redding Road.  Police said the driver who hit him fled the scene; so far, no arrests have been made.

"How do you kill somebody and just leave them there like that in the street?" asked Shaun Pearce, a friend of Pham.  "It's not right.  It's inhumane.  Whether they're drinking and driving, no matter what it was, you [confess] to what you did.  So, I just hope that they come forward, even just for them, for their soul to rest at ease."

Pearce, along with other members of the community, held a car wash and barbeque benefit at the H & H Saloon on Clay Road for Pham Saturday afternoon.  Some of them wore shirts with Pham's image and the words "In Loving Memory of Nhan 'Casper' Pham" emblazoned across the front.

The group sold car washes for $20 and had BBQ plates available for $10.  They said all the money raised Saturday will be donated to Pham's family.

Meanwhile, HPD continues to investigate the crime and has asked that anyone with information come forward.
