HUMBLE, Texas -

Arson units are investigating the cause of a house fire in Humble.

According to Eastex Fire Department, firefighters arrived at a house on Bluejay Twin Circle and Redbird Ridge around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Fire crews discovered heavy flames coming from the front of the one-story brick home and the homeowner standing outside badly burned.

The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital  in serious but stable condition with burns to her face and arms.

Eastex and Aldine fire departments were able to get the fire under control and keep it from burning the entire home.

A neighbor who assisted the homeowner told investigators the woman came running and screaming out of her house, saying she was burning candles and they somehow caught the living room on fire.

The Harris County fire marshal is investigating.
