March 6, 2014: Authorities are searching for a man who they say impersonated a police officer, then sexually assaulted a woman in north Harris County. Keith Garvin reports.

HOUSTON -

Women are on alert looking out for a man who claims to be someone they can trust.

Harris County authorities are sounding the alarm after a man who posed as a police officer pistol-whipped a woman in north Houston -- then sexually assaulted her. Women we spoke to said their primary rule is never talk to strangers.

"Why would I talk to a stranger?" That was the question from Houston's Terria Bruno. "And I don't care if he says he's a cop. It's not safe."

Harris County Sheriff's investigators say a 47-year-old woman was walking along FM 1960 and Kuykendahl early Thursday morning when a man approached her in a silver two-door Toyota.

She says he told her he was an undercover officer, the neighborhood was unsafe, and he would give her a ride. She got in and instead of taking her where she needed to go -- he drove her to a business center, pistol-whipped her, and then sexually assaulted her. He then dropped her off in another area along 1960.

The sheriff's office wants the man caught as quickly as possible.

"It's possible that he's done this before," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland. "And maybe we have other victims that no one's claimed or have told us about."

Investigators say they're looking for a black male, possibly in his early thirties, 5 feet 11 inches  to 6 feet tall, with a slim build. They say he was wearing a gray sweatshirt and red or black pants and may go by the name of "Patrick."

"He definitely needs to be caught," said Tiffany Jacquot of Houston. He needs to be caught and put away. Impersonating a police officer, that's a serious crime. It sounds like he's a sick individual."

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or send a tip via the iWatchHarrisCounty app.
