Trader Joe's opens Houston store

Sept. 21, 2012: The Houston area gets another Trader Joe's. Ryan Korsgard reports.

HOUSTON -

Trader Joe's opened another Houston-area store on Friday.

The 12,100-square-foot grocery store opened at 8 a.m. at the old Alabama Theater in the 2900 block of South Shepherd Drive. A ceremonial lei cutting welcomed new customers. The celebration will continue throughout the day with live music and food demonstrations.

The store will be open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily.

Trader Joe's opened its first store in the Houston area in June in the Woodlands. The company is expected to open another store this year on Voss in the Memorial area.
