LA PORTE, Texas -

Three men have been arrested after a string of robberies in La Porte.

Police said Caleb Refuge robbed a Valero on Highway 146 and Main Street and a Whataburger on Highway 146 on the same night.

Then, investigators said Refuge and two friends -- Austin Jean and George Merritt, Jr. -- robbed a Valero on Fairmont Parkway and 16th Street.  During that robbery, the clerk locked down the counter area, and the suspects left empty-handed.

According to reports, Refuge was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt during the Whataburger robbery, and a similar sweatshirt was found at the final Valero incident.

Additional clothing and equipment linked all three men to the final robbery, police said.

All three men are charged with aggravated robbery.
