Oct. 16, 2012: A family is concerned about crime in an Alief neighborhood after a local teenager is robbed at gunpoint just steps away from his back door. Jennifer Bauer reports.

ALIEF, Texas -

A local teenager was robbed at gunpoint just steps from his backdoor on his way home from school.

Police said it happened Monday afternoon.

The victim asked Local 2 to not disclose his name because the crime has alarmed him.

"He said, 'Give me your money.' I said I didn't have any money on me and I put my hands up. He placed the gun on me and he pretty much patted me down," said the high school sophomore.

The robbers took his guitar, guitar case and his school work.

"The whole day after, I was really shaken up," he said.

The tenth grade student told his mom what happened. Together, they called the police, who arrived at their home within minutes. He said he and officers drove around their neighborhood and spotted the robbers a few blocks away.

"Sure enough, there they were in front of an abandoned apartment. I pointed them out and they were arrested," he said.

Police also found the teen's belongings dumped in a nearby field.

The Houston police told Local 2 one of the suspects was just 16-years-old. Both suspects were arrested; their names have not been released.

The teenage victim's mother said she is very concerned about crime in their Alief neighborhood after hearing about what happened to her son.

According to the HPD crime index website, 34 robberies have happened in the 77072 zip code in which the family lives in the past 30 days.

"I've always been a peaceful person," said the victim's mom. "I don't believe in guns, but at this point I recommend to have a gun in the house."
