Feb 18, 2013: A family is cleaning up after strong storms move through and rip a hole in their roof. Ryan Korsgard reports.

Severe weather caused damage in San Jacinto County on Monday.

A roof was torn off a home along Highway 223 in Shepherd, Texas. Rain flooded that home's kitchen.

The homeowner said no one was home when the damage was done.

"The roof was completely ripped off," homeowner Shawn Arnold said. "The garage door was upside down and inside out."

Arnold said a barn on his property was destroyed. Arnold said the animals on his property were not hurt.

"We're lucky we've got a lot of friends up here," Arnold said. "Everybody in this community has helped us."

Arnold said he found out about the damage when a constable's deputy greeted him at the front gate. Arnold said county officials covered up the hole in his home before he even got there to see the damage.
