Jan. 19, 2012: A restaurant chain pops up for the third time in a few months on Restaurant Report Card. Amy Davis reports.

HOUSTON -

You've heard the saying "The third time's a charm," but if you're a restaurant owner, the third mention on our Restaurant Report Card may be more alarming than charming.

In November, we dropped by Nit Noi at 4703 Richmond Avenue after inspectors said they found roaches crawling around inside a trash can used to store rice.

In September at the Nit Noi at 2020 Louisiana, inspectors condemned 182 pounds of food deemed "not fit for human consumption" because it was stored at the wrong temperature.

This month, when they went back to the Richmond location, inspectors said they saw rodent droppings in the storage area and on a table across from the grill.

Nit Noi is a family owned and operated Houston chain of restaurants. There are eight locations in our area.

A manager told us Nit Noi pays for monthly pest control and that the droppings found this month were on top of an electric breaker box. He said they were cleaned up, but no one has ever actually seen any rodents in the restaurant.

At Angelo's Pizza at 5414 Birdwood, inspectors found four containers of veggie lasagna with mold on top.

They spotted a live roach in the bar area of the dining room at the Don Luis Mexican Restaurant at 7606 Irvington.

Inspectors asked employees of the Beck's Prime at 2902 Kirby to relocate the hanging fly traps dangling above stored food.

This week's perfect scores go to the Sonic Drive-In at 1101 Dairy Ashford and Brian O'Neill's Restaurant and Irish Pub at 5555 Morningside Drive.
