Rain, storms pound Houston on Monday

Rain and storms drenched parts of southeast Texas on Monday.
"Harris and Liberty counties were hit hardest today," said KPRC Local 2 chief meteorologist Frank Billingsley.
Approximately 2.76 inches of rain fell in Cypresswood, 2.56 inches was reported in Lake Livingston, 2.48 inches fell in Channelview and 1.52 inches was reported in downtown Houston.
"Some viewers reported as much as 3 to 5 inches of rain in their area," Billingsley said.
Street flooding made driving difficult in southeast Houston outside the Indigo Falls apartment complex on Nathanial and Ledge. Some drivers avoided the area instead of driving through water that pushed over the curb.
"This is about knee-deep. The worst I've seen since we had the hurricane over here," resident Ruby Collins said.
Things quieted down in the Houston-area by 4 p.m., but light to moderate rain continued.
"It's going to slow down the rush hour for sure," Billingsley said. "The key here is the heat of the day. We lose that, and things begin to settle down."
But the wet weather will be around all week.
"Prepare for more rain as we move through the week," Billingsley said. "Tomorrow, I think we'll go through the exact same thing we did today."
