HUMBLE, Texas -

A teenager was arrested after he was found with a gun.

According to a letter sent home to parents from Kingwood High School Principal Lisa Drabing, a Humble Independent School District officer arrested a 17-year-old student about 9:15 a.m. on Monday.

The arrested was not made on the school's campus, Drabing said.

According to the letter, the officer spotted the student in the area of North Park Drive near Forest Bluff Drive and asked him why he wasn't in school.

The student ran off and the officer chased him, Drabing said. The officer found the gun in the student's possession when he detained him, she said.

Drabing said there is nothing to indicate that the student planned to take the gun to school.

The student's name has not been released, but Drabing said he would face felony charges.
