Sept. 18, 2012: Police are trying to figure out who killed a mother of two and dumped her body in a wooded area. Courtney Zavala reports.

HUMBLE, Texas -

Humble police need help to find a mother's killer.

LaKendra Ware, 32, had two young boys when she was murdered.

"Her mother says it is harder every day. She sees her son and he reminds her of LaKendra," said Detective Jackie Blanchard.

Ware loved life and her family described her as a vibrant mother, daughter, sister.

It's been more than a year since she was killed.

"We have no leads," said Blanchard.

Blanchard has handled the case from the beginning. Originally, the case was filed as a missing person.

"The family thought she was going on an out of town trip. She was supposed to be going with her boyfriend. They thought she was gone so they didn't miss her," said Blanchard.

Ware never went to Las Vegas. She was last seen alive on May 26, 2011. Her body was found by volunteers with Texas EquuSearch on June 9, 2011. She was dumped in the woods not far from her Humble apartment.

"It would have to be a pretty cold, calculated person, maybe a loaner type," said Blanchard.

Ware shared the apartment with her boyfriend, Jason Finley. He was the last one to see her.  Police questioned him and released him.

Humble police say the smallest tip can help solve the case. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

Ware's family checks in with the Humble Police Department often. They are hoping to solve the cold case.

"They need resolution. They need completion. For them that would be justice," said Det. Blanchard.
