Jan. 23, 2013: Some workers said a thief drove their backhoe right off a construction site. Byron Nichols reports.

HOUSTON -

Some workers said a thief drove their backhoe right off a construction site.

It happened as crews were repairing streets and sidewalks in the area of the 8600 block of Clarewood in southwest Houston.

A worker said they'd left the site for another job, and when they got back, the backhoe was gone. It belonged to Infrastructure Services Inc.

Officials said the whole thing was caught on surveillance cameras from a nearby business.

The backhoe was later recovered. Authorities have not said whether anyone was arrested for the theft.
