A pastor and his daughter were found dead inside a burning southeast Houston home on Thursday, and investigators said their deaths were intentional.
Houston firefighters battled flames in the 8100 block of Dover about 11 a.m.
Police said the bodies of Vincent Clements Dorsey, 89, and his daughter, Barbara Ann Dorsey Alexander, 61, were discovered in the house. They both suffered blunt force trauma, detectives said.
Dorsey's elderly wife, who has dementia, was also in the home, officials said. She was asleep and did not see or hear anything, police said.
The home appeared to have been ransacked, detectives said.
"It's obvious that someone was in a rage when they conducted this crime," Sgt. J.J. Wilson said. "As we went throughout the home, we have a lot of blood and a lot of evidence throughout the home from the garage all the way to the front door."
Investigators said they are searching for Cameron Dorsey, 20, who is a person of interest in the killings. He is Vincent Dorsey's grandson. He lived inside the home, police said.
"If he did it, I want them to catch him and put him in jail, and make him pay for what he has done," said Patricia Williams, the pastor's niece.
Police said Cameron Dorsey was recently released from jail after serving time on a charge of theft from the elderly.
"He recently moved in with his grandparents," Wilson said. "They were trying to help him out, get him back on his feet. They asked him to move out on Sunday."
Dorsey was the pastor of the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ on Hoffman Street. His daughter was visiting from California.
Cameron Dorsey is believed to be traveling in a gold 2004 Toyota 4Runner. Police said it has Texas license plate No. 467WNT or possibly 8DFBW, a handicapped license plate. A relative reported seeing him leave the home shortly before the bodies were discovered.
Anyone with information regarding Cameron Dorsey's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Police urged anyone who sees him to not approach him.
