One person was killed in a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in west Houston, and investigators said slick roads played a role in the wreck.
The wreck happened Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. on the feeder road of the West Sam Houston Tollway at Boheme Drive.
Houston police said it was pitch black and the roads were very wet when the crash occurred.
"The posted speeds are there for good weather, good driving conditions," Lt. M.J. Parrie. "Especially if we haven't had bad weather, the oils on the road always tend to make the road conditions very slick."
Police said the motorcyclist and driver of a Chevrolet Suburban were both traveling southbound on the feeder road and were trying to turn left on Boheme. Investigators said the driver of the Suburban skidded straight and slid into the motorcyclist.
"Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was trapped underneath the vehicle," Parrie said.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. His name has not been released.
Investigators said they questioned the driver of the Suburban and gave him a field sobriety test, but they don't think alcohol played a role in the incident.
