Mother charged with endangering child
A mother was charged with endangering a child after her 13-month-old daughter was treated for serious injuries at an emergency room.
According to investigators, the daughter of Talia Lumpkin, 23, was found by her aunt lying in the middle of a parking lot with multiple injuries to her back, legs and arms on July 5. The aunt took her toddler to the emergency room.
The baby reportedly had three rib fractures and several contusions. Doctors said they believe the toddler's injuries were due to a fall on her right side.
Police said Lumpkin arrived at the hospital later and told investigators that the girl had fallen at the playground. Officials said her statement was not true and did not line up with the evidence.
In October, the toddler's aunt told investigators that her sister asked her to lie about how the child was injured. According to investigators, she told them her sister didn't come to the hospital that day because she had warrants out for her arrest.
