HOUSTON -

A deadly shooting in a northeast Houston neighborhood left one person dead. The shooting happened in the middle of Lee Road near Hailey, surrounded by homes.

Police said a 48-year-old man entered a convenience store on Lee Road shortly after 8 p.m. Monday. When he walked to his car, at least two other cars pull up. The man was shot at least once in the head, and then the cars sped away, according to police. His body was found in the middle of the road.

Police have not released the victim's name, but said his father was on the scene and identified him as a recently documented gang member. He also reportedly has been to jail for drug-related offenses.

There were no witnesses to the shooting but police said surveillance video recorded muzzle flashes from the shooting and the suspect vehicles as well.
