A man was critically injured Monday by a hit-and-run driver in southwest Houston, police said.
A witness, Anthony Bell, said he saw a pickup truck run through a yellow light on Westpark at Hillcroft and hit a man crossing the street at 2:15 a.m.
"The truck caught him on the edge and kept going," said Bell. "When he picked up speed, the truck caught him at the tip of the truck and the guy flipped in the air. That's when I saw him laying on the curb."
Bell told Local 2 he tried to help.
"He was breathing with blood coming from his nose and mouth. His legs seem to be broken and his arms seemed to be dislocated," he said.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His name was not released.
Detectives said the truck did not slow down after the crash.
"It would be like non-human for someone to do something like that, especially if you know you did it and not stop to come back and check. So, with that saying, he's in a lot of trouble. I know he is," Bell said.
Police investigated the scene for hours, collecting evidence that can help them track down the driver.
Police are looking for a dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck with front-end damage. The headlight was knocked off during the crash.
