Nov. 7, 2012: Police are searching for the thieves that broke into a Tanglewood home and stole jewelry. Phillip Mena reports.

HOUSTON -

Police are searching for the thieves that broke into a Tanglewood home and stole jewelry.

According to a letter sent to residents, a home in the 6200 block of Sugar Hill was broken into shortly after noon Tuesday.

The burglars broke a window on or near the front door and reached inside to unlock the door, the notice stated.

According to the letter, the burglars stole jewelry that was stored in the home's master bedroom.

Neighborhood patrol officers said a witness told them that they saw a man and a woman in a gray or light blue 2008 to 2010 Dodge Magnum with at least 20-inch chrome rims at the home. Surveillance cameras from a nearby home showed that the burglars were at the home for about one minute.

The letter said that the homeowners had set their alarm.

"Even if I leave to walk my dog in the morning, I turn my alarm on," neighbor Lynn Monteith said. "We have security and we have an alarm, but I have a barking dog that scares everybody, so I guess that's the next step -- get a dog."

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
