Need information on local disasters or emergencies? There's an app for that.
The city of Houston's Office of Emergency Management has launched a new mobile website for smartphones and tablets.
The goal is to help residents prepare before, during and after disasters.
The site, m.houstonoem.net, provides residents with information on the city's emergency response. There are also resources to help residents build an emergency kit, develop an emergency plan and stay informed.
"Our city is becoming more and more mobile, and now Houston residents can get important emergency preparedness and incident information right where they are," said Sharon Nalls, Houston's Emergency Management Coordinator.
The city of Houston's Office of Emergency Management is the first local emergency management agency in the nation to offer emergency information through a version of a website optimized for mobile browsers.
