A southwest Houston man opened fire on two robbers, killing one and injuring another Wednesday, police said.
Houston police said three robbers walked up to two men in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 12600 block of Medfield at Dairy Ashford Road around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
The victims said the trio grabbed them and started taking their belongings, including wallets, watches and money.
One of the victims had a concealed handgun license and had a weapon on him, investigators said. He managed to get his gun out of its holster and fired it, hitting two robbers, detectives said.
Both were rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. One of them, Mitchell Deon Tucker, 20, died a short time later.
The second, Michael Ellis Jones, 23,, was hospitalized in critical condition. He has been charged with aggravated robbery.
The third suspect got away, officials said. A description of him has not been released.
The two robbery victims were not hurt.
Police said the case will be referred to a grand jury.
