A man has been accused of using a company credit card to make unauthorized purchases.

Scott Thomas Trainor, 43, has been charged with theft.

Houston police said the owner of Renaissance Windows and Doors contacted them because he found $3,951.83 in unauthorized purchases on a company credit card.

The owner of the company said the card was issued to Trainor, a contractor manager for the company, and it was to be used to purchase materials for work assignments. She sometimes allowed Trainor to use the credit card to buy tools, but that needed prior approval, police said.

Investigators said the owner told them that Trainor told her that his truck had been burglarized and his tools were stolen.

The owner found that many purchases on the bill were for the same tools, officials said. The owner said Trainor never reported the credit card being lost or stolen, investigators said.

After the owner confronted Trainor about the charges, he stopped coming to work, police said.

Officers said they were able to get receipts from the unauthorized purchases and were able to get surveillance video, which showed Trainor making the purchases.
