Dec. 31, 2012: Investigators are working to determine who fatally shot a homeless man in southeast Houston and why. Ryan Korsgard reports.

HOUSTON -

A homeless man was found shot to death in southeast Houston on Monday, police said.

Houston police said a person walking to a bus stop found the body in shrubbery in the 2100 block of Hepburn, on the east side of the Texas Medical Center, about 7 a.m.

Investigators said they think someone just walked by and shot the man in the head.

Police said the victim was 50 to 60 years old.

No arrests have been made, officials said.

Detectives said they were canvassing the area because they believe it's likely that someone saw something that could help them.

"There's no information that's not important.  If there's anything, even the smallest detail, please call us," Officer Ryan Chandler said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
